American River
Kangaroo Island, South Australia

This website is provided by the American River Progress Association Inc.

The association exists to further the interests of the people of American River and surrounds. It does this by encouraging the development of facilities which will be of advantage to residents and/or visitors to the area. As an incorporated body the association is able to apply for grants to build and maintain public amenities.

In recent years, we have obtained, provided from our own resources or been involved in raising funds to refurbish the American River Boat Ramp, the American River Tennis Courts and to rebuild the children's playground on Tangara Drive. All of these facilities are of use to both visitors and residents. In addition we have created a spectacular town entry statement at the junction of American River Road and Hog Bay Road. We support the efforts of the Rebuild Independence Group to construct a replica of the schooner Independence (1803).

The association is consulted regularly by Kangaroo Island Council on items which will affect American River and tries to act as a conduit for residents' views.
