is easy. You can drive here via the Sealink ferry; come by public
transport; fly from Adelaide; sail in in your own boat or fly in
your own aircraft to a local airstrip.
the Sealink ferry departs from Cape Jervis normally at least 3 times
a day with additional services according to demand. It's a 45 minute
trip across to the island. Bookings are essential for the ferry
and can be made on Sealink's
website. Cape Jervis is about 2 hours drive south of Adelaide
and you need to arrive there 30 minutes prior to the scheduled sailing
time. The ferry will take you to Penneshaw and it's about a 30 minute
drive from there to American River. Leave Penneshaw on the Kingscote
road (the main road) and after about 29Km make a right hand turn
onto American River Road - it's well signposted.
Sealink offer a coach service from Adelaide and Goolwa/Victor Harbour
to Cape Jervis. The service from Adelaide operates twice daily leaving
Adelaide at 0645 and 1545. The Goolwa service departs at 0650 daily
except Wednesday and Saturday. These services link with the 0900
ferry departure and then with the shuttle departing Penneshaw for
American River after the ferry's arrival. Return services depart
American River at 07:30 and 18:00 arriving in Adelaide at about
11:30 and 22:40; or Goolwa at 22:00. There is no morning service
to Goolwa/Victor Harbour. Times may vary - please consult Sealink
for the latest information. It is important to note that there is
